51tiGakrZRL._SX427_BO1,204,203,200_.jpg?profile=RESIZE_400xInspired by Arthur Conan Doyle’s original Sherlock Holmes stories, John Taylor has written four more mysteries featuring the world’s greatest detective. Read by acclaimed actor Benedict Cumberbatch, these new adventures share all the suspense of the original tales.

In a drawer in his bureau, Dr. Watson keeps a locked cedarwood chest—a “box of secrets.” It contains an archive of notes referring to some of Holmes’ cases that, for one reason or another, never saw the light of day. Now, for the first time, Watson has decided to reveal the truth to the world. In these four thrilling stories, Holmes experiments with the science of ballistics, locates some missing gold bullion, investigates the theft of a large amount of money, and solves the baffling mystery of the Stovey murder.

Huckleberry Finn by Mark Twain

OIP.uyopGH0MAX_hG0vCG41VNwHaJJ?pid=ImgDet&rs=1&profile=RESIZE_400xDramatised by Marcy Kahan. One of the great American novels comes into rich and multilayered life in the most complete dramatisation yet. This BBC/Canadian Broadcasting Corporation co-production evokes pre-Civil War America, and follows Huck and the runaway slave Jim on their journey down the Mississippi on a raft. Twain's wise and affectionate writing gives voice to Huck's growing understanding of Jim's humanity, and remains controversial. This programme contains language that some listeners may find offensive.

Cat on a Hot Tin Roof - by Tennessee Williams

Tennessee Williams - Cat on a Hot Tin Roof

BBC Radio 3: Drama On 3 Broadcast: Sunday 16th March 2008 @ 8:00 p.m.

"Cat on a Hot Tin Roof" tells the story of a wealthy Southern family in crisis, in which hypocrisy, greed and secret passions threaten to tear apart the dysfunctional Mississippi family. The play portrays the larger-than-life characters of Maggie "the Cat," her alcoholic husband, Brick, and the dominating family patriarch, Big Daddy. A hot-house of corruption and lies, the drama is played out against a backdrop of rampant Fifties Cold War anti-Communism, white domination, racial segregation and intense homophobia. This new production stays faithful to Williams's rarely performed original version. When the drama premièred on Broadway in 1955, the director, Elia Kazan, asked Williams to rewrite the third act – which he did. But the playwright never abandoned his first version, requesting that the audience should be able to judge his original intentions.

With Joss Ackland [Big Daddy], Gemma Jones [Big Mama], Elizabeth McGovern [Maggie (Margaret)], Marcus D'Amico [Brick], Alison Steadman [Mae], Clive Carter [Gooper], Kenneth Jay [Dr Baugh], Ben Onwukwe [Lacey], Roy Dotrice [The Reverend Tooker], and Polly Dartford, Christopher Earley, Zara Mandel, Tristan Pegg [The Children]. The original music is composed by Jon Nicholls. Directed by Andy Jordan. Produced by Richard Bannerman and Neil Gardner. 120 min.

The Beatles' White Album Explored

whitealbum02_medium.jpg?profile=RESIZE_400xThe White Album was one of The Beatles' most remarkable releases. The two-album set was officially called THE BEATLES, but it became known forever after as The White Album. It was the top-selling of all The Beatles' albums and ranks #11 on the all-time album sales list.

The Beatles' White Album was a wildly diverse collection that included instant classics ("Back in the U.S.S.R", "While My Guitar Gently Weeps", "Dear Prudence", "Blackbird"), gentle ballads ("Mother Nature's Son", "I Will", "Julia"), raucous electric rock ("Helter Skelter", "Yer Blues") amusing ditties ("Honey Pie", "Savoy Truffle", "Rocky Raccoon"), and surprising experimental tracks ("Revolution #9"). The writing and performing styles of the four individual Beatles became distinct. Many Beatle fans and historians point to the White Album as the beginning of the break-up of the Beatles. In little over a year, the band would be dissolved.

Each song is explored with commentary from many guest in this three hour presentation hosted by Paul Ingles.
