Ray%20Bradbury.%20The%20Veldt.jpg?cnt=0&profile=RESIZE_400xFirst published in 1950, the action is set 100 years in the future, as Lydia and George struggle with their technologically advanced home taking over their lives and their role as parents.

Their two children, Peter and Wendy are obsessed with a virtual reality room called the 'nursery' which can reproduce any place they imagine. Lydia is distraught over their morbid preoccupation with a vivid virtual African Veldt complete with smells, where lions roam the open rural landscape.

Consequently, both children have become completely uncooperative and lie to their parents as a result of their lack of discipline.

Lydia and George decide to take action, but it’s a decision they may regret.

Diana Olsson stars as Lydia and John Cazabon as George.

With Jon Hewitt and Nina Ludlow as the children.

First broadcast on the BBC Light Programme 5 March 1959.

Dramatised by Jack Pulman

Producer, Frederick Bradnum
