The house is now the country's only working wireless radio museum - and these startling images show the more than 1,200 historical machines that fill every inch of his house.[...]Covering every decade since 1890 the amazing stockpile of working machines includes an early German-made Rhumpkorm from 1895 right up to a modern wireless bought last month for Mr Wells to listen to in the bath.More photos here: http://tinyurl.com/radiocollector

  • When I was still a child (in Europe) we had a large wood-encased radio which brought us stations from all over Europe, as well as some Slavic countries, and Great Britain.  Radios were pieces of furniture then and were much better looking, whatever their size.  The wood alone was an attraction, as well as the style of the design.  A visit to Mr. Wells' museum, however appealing, isn't possible for me, unfortunately.  What a pleasure it would be though!
