  • This Charlie McCarthy parlor game was a giveaway premium from Chase and Sanborn Coffee which was the sponsor for Bergen and McCarthy at that time, circa 1937-38. You will notice the stand-up figures for Dorothy Lamour and Nelson Eddy. Ms. Lamour was still a radio entertainer at the time and had not achieve fame as Crosby and Hope's girlfriend in the Road pictures. Nelson Eddy had appeared in musicals with Jeannette MacDonald and achieved somewhat dubious fame as the reason so many people turned off Bergen and McCarthy one Halloween night to turn in Orson Welles' War of the Worlds broadcast. Don Ameche was the announcer for the program and Robert Armbruster was the orchestra leader.
