Dr Watson and the Darkwater Hall Mystery BBC TV 1974

Happening to look up and see Kingsley Amis' Lucky Jim on my bookshelf yesterday whilst trying a few searches I recalled he wrote The Darkwater Hall Mystery, which lead to me searching for Darkwater, and up it popped. It's never had an official release on…

Imagination Theater

Since all my IT shows are off air or net, the Sherlock Holmes Shows are usually accompanied by another unrelated show. You will have to bear with this since The shows are made that way and I do not believe in cutting up radio shows.

A Ghost Story for Christmas Lot No 249

Trying to recall ACD's story Lot No. 249, I don't think there's anybody like Abercrombie Smith's friend, who I don't think is named but is played by John Heffernan, in the original story. There's plenty of Holmes in this friend. I didn't like what Mark Gatiss added to the adaptation of MR James' The Mezzotint a couple of years ago but I didn't mind the Lot No 249 "friend".Some bits I picked up in their conversation:To a collector of fairy tales no doubt fascinating, from HOUN. Escaped ape in…

Richard Gordon and Leigh Lovell (1930-33)

For American radio, the heroine of Holmes on the radio was Edith Meiser, an actress who loved the stories and was convinced they would make great listening. She scripted several Conan Doyle stories and took them around. Meiser entrepreneured a fitting sponsorship for the show herself, and went back to the network triumphantly. Beginning in the early 1930's, she single handed wrote the show for over a dozen years, first working from the Conan Doyle canon, and then continuing to create stories in…

  • I wonder if anyone can post Chapter 9, Second Report of Dr. Watson, from the Hound of the Baskervilles as read by John Telfer. I seem to have misplaced it. Many thanks.

  • I can't stand the Sherlock Holmes movies made recently. They can't change a classic to suit today's young people and do it justice.
  • Thank´s for having me!!! :)

  • Just noticed that Radio 4 EXtra, has the Sherlock Holmes v Dracula play available to listen/download for the next 23hours.........
