Morry Powell and Peter Bathurst (1948-1949)

I came across a review of an Austrialian version of Sherlock Holmes that I have never read about.  The review is from the January 26, 1949 edition of Variety, page 42.  See link below.  Does anyone have any further info on this show?

  • Just tried searching myself for anything about this series but I didn't find anything.

I did find a pdf file, "Australian radio series (1930s–1970s) A guide to holdings in the National Film and Sound Archive of Australia".

I'm thinking this could be Australia's version of Library Of Congress or the UK's British Library. Repositories of old recordings.

But I found no mention of the Sherlock Holmes series. The only Sherlock Holmes reference I found was an adaptation of the Valley Of Fear. Page 207.

To listen to it you'd have to fly to Australia!

The pdf is searchable. Ctrl-F in the pdf viewer should bring up a box to type the text in that you want to search for.

The link I got the pdf from is -

I did upload the pdf to my dropbox as well -

    • Thank you for trying.  I will look at the PDF.  I am interested in The Stories of Sherlock Holmes and wonder if more are saved that are not currently available.
