Could you imagine the adrenaline flowing through someone like Orson Welles directing a production of Theater on the Air. He not only had to do his bit in acting but also directing, cueing all the sound effects at the right time and getting the orchestra in sync. Digitalization and technology have made the movie industry of today something to marvel at but we shouldn't forget how much actual talent it took people of the radio age to actually produce shows. (and today's radio shows like Imagination Theater, etc...). Sure, there was no stunt actors and animators but it took talent of a whole other sort (a very understated talent) to be apart of Old Time Radio shows.

Me too. It's amazing to think of this conglomeration backing up the shows--timing and direction was everything.
