The Black Cat Murder Mystery, or Nostrovia Fitzrovia By Marcy Kahan
With Stephen Mangan, Jason Chan, Kerry Shale, Helen Longworth, Richenda Carey, John Rowe, Ellen Thomas and Ian Masters. Director and Producer: Marion Nancarrow
Broadcast 3 May 2008, BBC World Service (Worldplay)
A new Worldplay season on the theme of mystery features work from broadcasters in America, Australia, Canada, Ireland, New Zealand and the UK.
BBC World Service's contribution to the season, The Black Cat Murder Mystery, is a comic murder mystery set in an apartment block in Fitzrovia: a cosmopolitan London neighbourhood a step away from the BBC's Broadcasting House.
There's a corpse in flat six; a mysterious hermit in flat 12; a cognitive neuroscientist looking for love in flat three; a Russian businessman in flat 11; a Japanese bassoonist in flat eight; a seductive blonde in flat five; and an extremely unusual detective.
Marcy Kahan's plays for the World Service include the science-fiction comedy The Uncertainty Principle; the award-winning play Drop Dead Gorgeous; Object Of Insane Desire, a satire on consumerist obsession; and Marvellous - one of the plays that made up BBC World Service's 2007 Picture A Play project.

Knew nothing about the writer or her work. Marcy is brilliant at capturing the world from a perspective you will not expect. No matter how clever you are at anticipating a mystery writer's outcomes, I double-dog-dare you to outguess this one!
