The Rivals series 4 2016 BBC Radio 4

A new series of The Rivals starts today. This is series 4.
I have uploaded the episode to Onedrive. The BBC offers 320kbit files these days. So this episode is 320kbit. With episodes of The Rivals clocking in at half an hour the file size is 64MB. The previous series' episodes are 128kbit. Today's episode and all 12 episodes of seasons 1 through 3 can be found at the Onedrive link below.

I'm glad to see Radio 4 still producing episodes of this series. They make for a fun half hour. There's so much material they can use when you think about it. Next week's episode will feature Arthur Morrison's detective Martin Hewitt.

Inspector Lestrade was made to look a fool in the Sherlock Holmes stories. Now he gets his own back, with tales of Holmes' rivals. After his protégé Constance Dunlap saves a woman from drowning, the woman mumbles "this was meant to happen". Lestrade helps Constance investigate her suspicions that this was no accident and that the woman is in mortal danger.

    City dealer Nicholas Henley, has nearly been gassed three times in apparent
    accidents in the luxury flats of Malplaquet House.
    All the residents have secrets, but which one of them is out to get Henley?

    Episode 3/4 - The Secret of Dunstan's Tower

    Inspector Lestrade was made to look a fool in the Sherlock Holmes stories. Now he gets his own back, with tales of Holmes' rivals. Lestrade enlists the help of the brilliant blind detective Max Carrados when he is asked to help a woman who believes that an old prophecy is foretelling her death. In 1662 a fierce quarrel lead to the fatal wounding of Sir Philip Belmont by Henry Ainsworth who owned Dunstan's Tower. Before Sir Philip died he prophesied that when blood appeared on the steps of the grand staircase of Dunstan's Tower, then one of the Ainsworth family had a week to live. Blood has now appeared on the steps and the present Lady Ainsworth is awaiting her death.
