  • I had a problem with the first part.  Instead of 52.1 MB the download is only 11.6 MB.  I am only getting the first 12 minutes 26 seconds of the program.  The second part was complete.

    • Interesting...looking over the comments I don't get the impression that anybody else has listened to this and then commented except you Jim.

Did you try to download it again? (corrupt download)

I don't know about others, and browsers work differently, but I find that sometimes I can right-click 'save-as' mp3 but other times when I try that method I get a dialog box asking if I want to save a .htm file. In that case I left-click the mp3 in which case it opens in the browser's own mp3 player and starts playing. At that point I click 'File' in the menu bar and select 'save page as' for which I get an option to save as an mp3. Just a suggestion to try. However if the original upload itself is corrupted then of course it won't work.

One last thing. If the first part is corrupted I have it myself. This was a weird coincidence as I was generally browsing Holmes in Google and RTE's site was a few pages down and I saw Hound and clicked to check it out. I'd never been on the site before and this was about 2 - 3 hours before the show was due to start. As I couldn't tell if they would be offering any kind of 'listen again' links I had a frantic couple of hours connecting 2 PCs, one tuned in to the show and with the audio out and the other PC with the audio in capturing the broadcast. I had never tried anything like that before so I had to do a lot of experimenting with the sound balance.

The following week and the next day after the 2nd part and they put up listen again links. I wish I'd known they would be doing that but I just couldn't take any risks at the time.

So anyway post again. If you've tried a few times to download and had no luck I'll upload my version.

    • Yesterday I tried three seperate times and got the same result each time.  After your response I just tried again and it worked.  I did exactly the same steps today as yesterday.  The problem resolved itself.  Thank you for your quick response.
  • Note that the broadcast dates for parts 1 and 2 were 24 and 31 October, respectively.
  • Can't wait to hear this. Am currently listening to the Merrison/Williams series for the second time and am in a mood for Holmes. Thanks for posting.
    • am in a mood for Holmes.

Hmmm .. there are times when you are NOT in the mood for Holmes? :>P
  • My favourite Sherlock Holmes story. Thank you.
  • You beat me to it. I was just prepping my encode for uploading.

    A bit more info:

With its desolate Dartmoor setting and its dramatic ensemble of eccentric Victorian villains and victims, The Hound of the Baskervilles is a High Gothic adventure from the great Sir Arthur Conan Doyle; and it's entirely appropriate that the recasting for radio of this spectacular whodunit from the Sherlock Holmes archive should be done by Declan Hughes, author of the internationally successful Ed Loy detective series and a founder member of Ireland's leading theatre company Rough Magic. Robert O'Mahoney plays the prince of all private investigators and Owen Roe his inseparable sidekick Dr Watson in this two-part adaptation of the tale. Producer Aidan Mathews.
    • See what I am missing by not having a working computer for a few months! My favourite Holmes as well! And a belated B-day present,as you posted it on the 3rd! Thank you so much! It's 30' Below zero here in Ottawa tonight and guess who is going to be under Moms' warm quilt listening!?! - Thanks so much! - Ron L.
