AudioGO audiobooks - new titles

I'm a member of the AudioGO site and recently via email I learnt that the site has a number of new additions to it's Sherlock Holmes offerings.
These titles are all download only. The good thing with AudioGO is that their downloads are plain mp3s without any DRM such as sites like Audible use. At least they were DRM free the last time I checked. The mp3s that I have got from the site in the past have been copied to many different storage types, devices and operating systems without any problems.

If you go to the AudioGO site you can select either US or UK to view the site. Search 'sherlock' and the following titles will appear, mixed in with all the older Holmes audiobooks and dramatisations they have.
What with splashing out for a new PC recently my funds are low so I don't have any of these myself yet. I know which one I'd go for (will be going for) first though. The last one - the latest from Donald Thomas / John Telfer. If it's anything like the earlier collections it should be good.

  • Jake,

Have you had any luck finding any of these?  The AudioGo versions are cheaper than the Audible one(s) plus, as you pointed out, there is no DRM.  I could get Death on a Pale Horse if you still don't have it.

By the way, has anyone ever bought anything from Audiobooks.com?  I've been thinking of switching to a new seller and I just wondered if their downloads are MP3s or the DRM type.

    Thanks,

    Jamie

  • I've not yet heard any of these, but I have read and enjoyed "The Secret Diary of Dr Watson" and "The Outstanding Mysteries of Sherlock Holmes", and I'm told that "The Detective and the Woman" is good (disappointing title - until you realise that it's THE Woman!).

    • I noticed you mentioned this new AudioGO series in the latest (3rd March?) District Messenger Roger. I was a little late reading the issue but caught up over Easter.

I can't find a hardcopy (as in a version made from trees) of the latest Donald Thomas collection. No kindle version either. Strange.

  • Thanks Jake,I don't do reviews, but on Sherlock Holmes and the Whitechapel Vampire I couldn't get through two hours of it.It was pretty awful.Oh well, to each their own, others may think different.Maybe give Sherlock Holmes and the Plague of Dracula a try.The Thomas book sounds good, but I really like his work anyway. Thanks again Jake.
