Arthur Conan Doyle - Playing With Fire
Read by Edward de Souza
15 minutes
One Sunday, a Frenchman joins a group of friends at a séance, and conducts a dangerous experiment.
BBC 4 Extra aired this at the weekend. Doyle's story first appeared in The Strand in March 1900.
I checked the BBC Genome and the earliest airing I can find is one from Friday 29 April 1988. It was the 15 minute slot at the end of Woman's Hour. I did check to see if Woman's Hour were airing more Conan Doyle stories around that time (that same week or the next) but it appears to be a one-off.
The following Genome link shows entries for the 1988 Woman's Hour slot as well as airings on Radio 4 in 1989 and Radio 5 Live in 1990.

(There's one more entry at the Genome link but that's for the BBC One TV version which was part of a 13 episode "Sir Arthur Conan Doyle" sans Sherlock series - I wonder if the BBC still have those, or were they wiped)
I have uploaded this to Onedrive.
