The Loop is the first radio play by Nick Perry, author of stage play Arrivederci Millwall.

When middle-aged Englishman Nick Perry's son plays with his mobile, Nick finds himself speaking to a young stranger called Jim, in New York, in 1959. As they talk, they discover that they're both writers. Nick's struggling with his first radio play, while Jim has just started on an ambitious new TV show, The Twilight Zone.

Nick searches the internet and finds Jim's episodes. As they start to play with the possibilities of their direct line between 2009 and 1959, Nick thinks he may finally have the beginnings of his play – unless Jim uses the idea, in which case it will seem decidedly second-hand 50 years on.

As things develop, a tension starts to creep in as the full implications and possibilities of what's happening dawn on them. Then Nick gets distracted by an elderly American hanging around outside his house.
