    In the distant, post-Holocaust future, an elite cult of intellectuals plays an elaborate game that employs all the cultural and scientific knowledge of the ages. The Main character has been consumed with mastering this game since childhood – and when he does, he becomes a Magister Ludi, or Master of the Game. Hesse's last major work.
