Charles Chilton & Julian Simpson
Saturday 27 June 2009
Julian Simpson's adaptation of the classic 1950s science fiction series. Originally written by Charles Chilton, it ran for more than 60 episodes during the Fifties.
Jet Morgan and his crew, Lemmy, Mitch and Doc, are woken from cryo-sleep in their ship, the Ares, by a distress call from an abandoned freighter.
When Jet and Doc go on board the abandoned ship, they find no organic life forms but, instead, discover the personality of JJ Andreev – a previous associate of Jet's who was reported dead – locked inside the dying ship's computer system. But JJ's digitised personality hijacks the Ares, taking the crew to the Enceladus – a research orbital where newly-discovered alien bacteria are being kept.
Edie, the only one of the crew on the Enceladus not in cryo-sleep, is wary of the new arrivals but it soon becomes clear that they will need all the help they can get to stand any chance of saving their own lives.
Jet, Edie and their comrades in arms must find a way to understand the purpose of the intellectually superior "Host" that has been controlling JJ and somehow outwit it. If they fail, mankind will become a dispensable stepping stone to a new chapter in evolution.

I googled to see if I could find any, and I came across Fantom Films website, and fact they're shortly to release a very limited edition hardbook autobiography of Charles Chilton, and they'll be individually signed. Not only that, but there's an event in Chiswick (West London) on Saturday week, where he'll be interviewed and you can collect your book from the man personally!

I think I'm gonna take it to bed and see if I make it to the end. I've heard it's not that great but I don't yet know that!
Given that I'm such a fan of JIS, I guess it's surprising I've not yet got round to checking it out. I've always liked Toby Stephens as an actor too.
