BBC Radio 4 - Afternoon Play - 2005-11-01

128K

Afternoon play based on a Suffolk sea legend, starring James Fleet as a fisherman who hauls in a huge creature. But ... what is it? And can it be allowed to live?

Somewhere near a small fishing village a creature is pulled out of the sea. No one knows what it is - or what it wants. Does it belong to the sea, or the land? Is it harmless or does it represent some kind of threat?

Two of the villagers, Clay and Rowena, must decide what to do about it. Whatever they do, it seems certain to change their lives.

Clay ..................... James Fleet
Rowena ............... ...... Eve Best
Digby .................. Struan Rodger
Father Anthony ...... Gerard McDermott
The Soldier ......... David Goodfellow

Music by David Pickvance

Directed by Peter Kavanagh

  • This was excellent! Thanks!

  • Warburton might make a good candidate for a flood.

    • Crap, I did it again.  I did not mean to delete your reply to mine along with my own text.  Anyways, I realize that you are right about the search.  I was going to clarify in my reply and ended up removing yours too.  Anyways, it is fine for you to flood but I have my own reasons for sticking to the one play or a set type of post.  That is me, but you can do what you wish in posting,  Actually, one thing I was afraid of is that others would do it too and not put all the titles so meticulously as you do and we would then have a problem.  The other thing is that I pay dearly for my storage and cannot afford to post a bunch of plays altogether.  I have just about maxed out what my fixed income will stand and my storage is dwindling each time I post, so I will stick with one at a time.

I really like your floods and so do other members.  That is what matters.  I am just old fashioned and like to put a text blurb for each post and a picture.  That is right for me.  You are an individual and can post however it suits you best.  ----------------------------------------  Rick
