She stoops to conquer - L.A. Theatre Works

James Marsters and Joanne Whalley lead an all-star cast in She Stoops to Conquer, Oliver Goldsmith's classic and uproarious comedy of manners. Strange things are afoot at an idyllic country mansion in rural England: Young Kate Hardcastle and her cousin Constance are both newly engaged, but Kate's mischievous brother Tony Lumpkin plots to derail the happy occasion. And when the misguided suitors arrive, they turn the Hardcastles' estate upside-down. Bawdy hijinks, deflated pretensions, and underhanded fun are the order of the day in Goldsmith's hilarious satire of sentimental comedies.

Starring James Marsters as Charles Marlow; Joanne Whalley as Kate Hardcastle; Matthew Wolf as Hastings; Adam Godley as Tony Lumpkin; and Ian Ogilvy and Rosalind Ayres as Mr. and Mrs. Hardcastle. With Julian Holloway, Christopher Neame, Paula Jane Newman, Moira Quirk and Darren Richardson. Directed by Martin Jarvis.
