Benedict Cumberbatch and Louise Brealey tell a World War Two love story in letters between Chris Barker, a soldier in Libya, and Bessie Moore, a Morse code interpreter at the Foreign Office in London.
A small blue box opened in 2008 reveals a wartime world of love, longing and frustration.
On 5th September 1943, Chris, a signalman stationed near Tobruk, decided to write to former work colleague Bessie. The unexpected warmth of her reply changed their lives forever.
Chris and Bessie's love letters first appeared in Simon Garfield's book To The Letter, and toured literary festivals before getting a book of their own, My Dear Bessie, published in 2015 on Valentine’s Day.
