Two rare singles - Gossamer Wump and Gerald McBoing Boing

Gossamer Wump and Gerald McBoing Boing

Two rare Capitol singles are featured this post.  First you'll hear the story of Gossamer Wump, a freckle-faced little boy with one blue eye and one green one.  This is an unusually thick and heavy twelve-inch 78RPM instead of the more common ten-inch size.  It is told by Frank Morgan, who played the wizard in The Wizard of Oz.  Then one of the most familiar voices from old time radio, The Great Gildersleeve (Harold Peary) tells us the story of Dr. Suess' Gerald McBoing Boing.  Gerald can't talk, he goes "boing boing" instead!  In 1950, UPA Studios produced a Gerald McBoing Boing cartoon, which won an Academy Award for best animated short film.
