WAVING TO A TRAIN by Martyn Read

It's late June, in 1953. Two weeks ago, despite the torrential rain, the Coronation went off perfectly. Now, the skies are blue, the grass is green, and  the sun is shining. This is Midsummer the way it should be - Midsummer as we'll always remember. There's time for a family picnic, and time to wave to the last train to London as  it passes by in the bright evening sunshine. Savour these days, and remember that nothing lasts, least of all childhood.

  • Martyn Read? 221B?

Well I'm not what you'd call a royalist and after a week of sunshine it's back to normal in the UK but with 4 holiday days because of yet another Queen's celebration I'm looking for stuff to listen to.

I just noticed that there was a BBC version of this with Michael Jayston in the cast. Wouldn't mind hearing that.
