THE FITLOW MANGLE by Bill Farrow

Remember the great Mangle War and the part played in it by the Mangle Boys with their song “The French Can’t Make Mangles Like We Can”?

In time, of course, Eddie Fitlow and Ernie Turpin retired, but the fate of the famous Fitlow Mangle was a mystery for many years – until eventually it was discovered in the most exotic and unlikely place…

How it came to be in an Egyptian shrine is quite a story. Probably. Actually, we don’t know a lot about that part of the mangle’s history. This instalment of Mr Farrow’s chronicle tells what happened after it was smuggled back into England by an unscrupulous archaeologist.

Between them, somehow, a brace of vengeful Frenchwomen, the somewhat fed-up proprietor of a junk shop, and the rather confused residents of a home for retired entertainers manage to thwart Professor Bellman’s plan to make a fortune from the Fitlow Mangle.
