"Vampirella" by Angela Carter

Angela Carter's Vampirella has no connection with the comic-book character. This play, broadcast on BBC Radio 3 on 20 July 1976, stars Anna Massey as Countess Vampirella, Richard O'Callaghan as Hero and David March in the first of three radio drama appearances as Dracula.

  • Roger and Bob,

I hate the search on this site!  I searched and came up empty for Vampirella and i posted the exact same copies you both did.  I apologise and have bumped this one forward and deleted mine because mine is not better as roger postulates.   Although they were obtained from different sources,  in other words even though they are the same files mine was obtained from the net in a compendium of Carter's work ans interpreted through the years by the BBC.  I sincerely apologize for the fickle search on the site. Well, at least we have one now, which we didn't for 2 months.  I will continue to trust it because I do not relish the idea of a manual search each time.  Hopefully it will finally catch up totally.  It found yours only after mine was posted.  With that and $2 and can get a cup of coffee.  the search works about 80% of the time right now and gets better all the time.  The group search is still broken and we are now using the site search in the upper right corner of every page.  ---------------------------------------------------------------  R

    • No apologies needed, Rick. I wondered whether my post had been a victim of the changes at Times Past, but I wasn't immediately able to check because the search facility wasn't working at all...  But as Bob says, it's all small stuff really.

    • As we say in Brooklyn "No blood, no foul!"  :>)

Don't worry about the small stuff. (It's ALLO small stuff!)

    • I agree, but what you don't know is that what I dislike more is using my storage for something already here and then having to go back and delete it.  But deleting it is a good thing because it gives me room for something else.  -----------------------------  R

  • Thanks for posting both so I can enjoy the two.

    Thanks again to Jake, katy

    • Thanks, Katy!

The actress playing Mrs Beane is actually Betty Hardy, not "Metty" Hardy. And the original broadcast was, as I said, on BBC Radio 3 (the serious, intellectual, cultural station), not BBC Radio 4.
