    • This appears to be a cassette version of one of the many BBC Dracs.
    • This is the dramatisation by Peter Orr that was released as a double cassette on the Argo label about 25 years ago.

The cast is remarkable, not only for the number of very distinguished actors playing bit parts but for the number of very distinguished musicians playing bit parts.

      Hi Roger:

Thanks for the identification and details of this amazing production.  The cast list is outstanding.

I was able to find a review by Gramophone (Journal), April 1984, pg.87.

In another joint venture between Argo and Radio 210, Peter Orr has adapted and directed Bram Stoker's Dracula, written in 1897. A huge cast of well-known actors, musicians and others play up well—Antal Dorati, Vladimir Ashkenazy, Wendy Hiller, Timothy West, Paul Scofield, Robert Hardy, Wendy Craig, the tireless Peter Orr himself, and others Too Numerous To Mention—and all the artists' royalties are donated to The Musicians' Benevolent Fund. The chief players, such as Nigel Cooke as Jonathan Harker the London solicitor, David Garth as Doctor van Helsing and Robert Eddison as Dracula himself, push the Gothick narrative along with a swing to the accompaniment of some very horrible cries and other sounds as the world is cleansed of the Undead: a nasty tale, full of gore. I suppose if you can't see it, it's all good clean fun. Full marks, anyway, for enthusiasm and effort.

      Cheers, katy
