Shakespeare in His Day and in Ours
First in a series of ten radio programmes in which various aspects of Shakespeare's life and work are discussed by scholars and theatre practitioners. In this episode the speaker is Margaret Webster, producer-director of Shakespeare in the 1930s and 1940s , who introduces Shakespeare as a playwright in the context of his time. Illustrative excerpts from Shakespeare's plays and poems are read by Basil Hoskins. At this point in time I only have this one of the 10 parts. It stands alone well, but I am attempting to get more. It's content is as good regarding when it was recorded as it is to Shalespeare's time.
