  • Hi, Rick...thanks for the invitation. I remember, years ago, when Dr. I.Q. came to my town, and broadcast his show from a movie theater...during intermission, I believe. I remember a show where they said his initials stood for "Icabod Quincer" .

Many A Slip

A panel game created by Ian Messiter that ran from 1964 to 1979 firstly on the BBC Home Service and then on BBC Radio 4 from 1967. In a typical round, Roy Plomley read out a piece of text prepared by Ian Messiter, and contestants buzzed in if they detected an error. Correctly identifying an error scored one point and supplying a correction was worth a second; if a contestant buzzed in when there was no error, two points were awarded to the opposing team. "How To" -- UNEDITED 48:32 [CBS, 1951]

Here's a pre-censored version of a 1951 CBS Show, "How To," in which a celebrity panel is challenged to come up with solutions to ridiculous "How To" situations submitted by the audience. Roger Price hosts, with Huntz Hall, Art Linkletter, and British comedienne Anita Martell on the panel. They manage to get in some funny bits that most likely didn't make it past the CBS censor.
