  • Thank you!

    • Thanks for the comments, and especially to Bob for sharing the extra files:)

    • You're welcome and, if I may:

If anyone has the original one-off from 1991, I'd love to hear that one as well.

  • Hi, David.  I think that comedy detective shows are usually very entertaining.  Thanks!!

    • Bob, thank you for posting additional plays.  Looking forward!

  • Marius Brill’s comic mystery series  (there are actually FOUR parts) had its origins in a one-off short play (sLaughter in the Dark) transmitted on Radio 4 as part of the Young Playwrights’ Festival in 1991.  Paul B Davies starred as Jack Dunroody, a blind detective with a Chandleresque delivery, and reprised the role several years later.  The series also featured Rebecca Front.

Perhaps the confusion comes from Brill's unique use of capital and lower case letters to give the reader a clue:

    The actual title is

    sLaughter in the Dark

or maybe the character names?  "Theolonius, a monk"

I have the full 1996 set of four plays, which I'll post tonight or in the morning.  If anyone has the original one-off from 1991, I'd love to hear that one as well.

    Bob

  • Dear David,

Thanks so much for the offering.  I will listen to it tonight with the lights off.
