Monty Python

Another Monty Python Record is the second album produced by the Monty Python comedy group, released in 1971. It was packaged as "Beethoven Symphony No. 2 In D Major", but defaced by the Pythons to serve as their own record jacket. (The "serious" liner notes on the back also bear a Pythonesque stamp: the biography of Beethoven quickly turns into a commentary on Beethoven's Wimbledon debut.) Most of the material is from the Monty Python's Flying Circus television series, although some of the sketches are new. Included with the original LP were three card inserts printed with detailed instructions, scripts and cut-out props for the 'Be A Great Actor' sketch on side 2.

  • As a confirmed Python nut from the 70s, I thank you very much for this, I have all their material on vinyl and tape, but they are wearing- so thanks agian. Dave from Down Under.

    • Hello Dave

whereabouts Down Under? Not central NSW I hope!

      David

    • No, thank goodness. We're getting amazing weather all over Oz. Crops ruined, etc. I keep looking out my Adelaide window expecting to see the 4 Horsemen!!! Nice chatting to you and keep up the Python. Cheers, Dave.

    • You have still had more than enough rain for my liking. At least it stayed dry long enough for the Test which gave great satisfaction to me as a Pom.. We have friends in Wagga and they are really doing it tough. Its very nice here in Sydney though!

  • Monty Python Live at Drury Lane is an album released by Monty Python in 1974, which was recorded at the Drury Lane Theatre in London earlier that year. It was also released in Canada in 1975 (distributed by GRT of Canada Ltd. 9211-4). All of the sketches, except for 'Secret Service' and the 'Idiot' song of Neil Innes, are from Flying Circus and vary slightly from their television counterparts. A reissued compact disc was released in 1997.

This was not released in the US until 1994, when it was included in the box set The Instant Monty Python CD Collection. Until then, the only live Python album released in the US had been Monty Python Live at City Center, released in 1976.

    • Thanks for this..A good one..
and don't feel bad, David, I am so nearsighted myself that everything beyond 12 inches away is iffy...
    • The problem was not that I could not see it, just that I was rather tired after a long day at an exhibition and too much wine. I just did not bother to check the spelling.

As for Monty Python I will try and dig out my vinyl copy of Matching Tie and Handkerchief soon so that I can record side two which has two tracks on the same side. Once I have done that I will upload it as well. I have also got the Meaning Of Life ready to go and I will upload that at the same time.

      David.
    • David,

Thank you for these wonderful recordings. I feel kind of bad that I was unable to get to these sooner after you asked me if they would be well received. But as we just had a baby I haven't actually had a whole lot of time to get on here.

I do widh to convey my deepest gratitude as they are great recordings.

      Steve

  • Monty Python's Contractual Obligation Album (or simply Contractual Obligation Album) is an album released by Monty Python in 1980. It contains a mixture of mainly songs, some new sketches, and some pre-Python work (rerecorded). As the title suggests, the album was put together to complete a contract with Charisma Records. At least one of the skits on the album ("Bookshop," also called "Bookship Sketch") predates the group itself, having been performed on the ITV series At Last the 1948 Show in 1967.
