Pratchett has sold 27 million books around the world Fantasy author Terry Pratchett has been named winner of the prestigious Carnegie Medal for the best children's book of 2001 - his first mainstream literary award, despite being one of the UK's best-selling authors. Pratchett was described as an "international publishing phenomenon" by the prize organisers.
