The Perfume of the Woman in Black by Gaston Leroux,1999
....rather like a French Sherlock Holmes....you know the sort of thing, where the detective shakes hands with someone and says: "You are a wealthy man who's fallen on hard times, and a regular snuff-taker." ....(Clive Lever)
I cannot find much information on this play. It is quite good nevertheless. It is missing it's intros and outros and had been cut in two. I put it back together and it deserves a listen. The Secret of the Yellow Room the predecessor in the story line was adapted, fairly faithfully, for BBC Radio Four around 1999 and this one a year later. If anyone has a better copy of this full cast production and more information I eagerly await your reply. I would also ask if anyone has "The Secret of the Yellow Room" as I would also love to hear it. An update to the scant information i have would also be a joy.

An interesting precursor to Sherlock Holmes, some of the plotting is a bit bonkers.
You, Rick, certainly deserve the title!
Thank You

Thanks, Bob. The idea of a French Sherlock is intriguing. Mike
