    Have always enjoyed the novels of Edgar Wallace.   My sister is particularly drawn to his stories about the turf, so this one will keep her attention  (she has already seen the 1948 movie).

    The Pan paperback cover was by one of their regular artists, W. Francis Phillipps, whose attention to detail always suggested that he'd actually read the book before painting the cover.
