1875. Bad tempered Paris detective, Commissioner Gauche, is investigating the crime of the century. His investigation takes him on the maiden voyage of the Leviathan, the largest passenger ship in the history of the world where he focuses his attentions on a small group of eight rather peculiar first class passengers - among them a secretive Russian diplomat.
