The final story in this series is set at Christmas, but there's no respite for Molly and Hardcastle in their quest to solve the next grisly murder. Hardcastle has been seriously injured in a bombing raid and is travelling to his brother's home to convalesce when he is asked to investigate the gruesome discovery of a body in a trunk at the left luggage office at Horsham train station. The murder has remarkable similarities to an infamous murder case, which ultimately destroyed the reputation of Hardcastle's predecessor, Wilkinson. Hardcastle is exhausted from the pressures of work and the emotional and physical strain of his bomb-blast injuries and Molly is furious that he is working when he should be resting but is someone deliberately taunting them?

    • Thanks Katy. It was a good series, I wish there were more.
  • I just found on Amazon.com the paperback published in 1993...Reading the mysteries are great!

Again thanks so much for introducing me to the series.

  • I saw that they had been broadcast in 98. I was hoping it might be like some other english series where they skip a few years and start up again.

    Thanks,

    Matt

  • Really great. Were these all that were made? They seem to have left the series open to continue.
    • I far as I know, this is all the shows.
    • The Horsham Trunk episode begins with the announcer describing it as the "last in the series."
    • According to radiolistings.co.uk these were first broadcast in July 1998.

  • I'm listening to these at the moment and I think they're great. Highly recommended stuff!
