Dear Rick - Thanks again for another great offering. I loved the CBC Mystery Project and I thought I had heard all of them. Well what a special summer surprise for me. I really am very thankful of the chance to listen to a new CBC mystery. You made my travel a whole lot nicer. Bob
Summary: Marty Carlin is a Toronto police detective who winds up making an unexpected career change, returning home to the Maritimes and becoming an insurance investigator in Halifax.
Recurring Characters: (Spellings VERY suspect) Marty Carlin - Barry Dunne Bruce McKenzie - Jamie Bradley Sharon - Jennifer Overton
This series ran as 8 episodes from January to February of 1997.
Episodes: Ep. 1 "Self Contained" Marty Carlin is a Toronto police detective who winds up making an unexpected career change, heading back home to the Maritimes.
Ep. 2 "Another Scoop" William B. Cochran, nefarious gossip-monger and editor of the scandal mag Scoop, is murdered. Thanks to Cochran's publishing activities, there are more suspects than you can count, but the evidence points to a blustering Halifax media czar who happens to be Sharon's father.
Ep. 3 "Any Port in a Storm" Marty Carlin finds himself deep in international intrigue when a Texas insurance investigator comes to town in search of a missing American missile guidance system, and an Ethiopian political refugee tries to get into Canada.
Ep. 4 "Hook, Line and Sinker" Sharon's television documentary on teenage prostitution forces the Green family to play host to a young hooker at the family's palatial cottage in Chester. This has an impact on everyone in the family, espcially Marty's teenage son Pat.
Ep. 5 "Sleeps With Fishes" Someone has stolen the digital master tape of the latest album by the hottest grunge band in Halifax, during a dispute between the band and an eccentric record producer. Marty tries to mediate while his teenage son Pat gets a real charge out of the whole scene.
Ep. 6 "Needles, Fingers and Arms" When drug dealer Earl Zinck is murdered, blues musician Lou Dickens gets busted and Marty's ex-girlfriend Maggie asks for help.
Ep. 7 "Alternate Catches" Marty Carlin gets himself caught in the middle of a labour dispute at a local fish plant. Which doesn't sound too deadly. But - then again - I haven't mentioned the bomb yet. There's more than negotiating going on.
Ep. 8 "The Other Side of the Tracks" All the contradictions of Marty Carlin's come to a head when Adam Brown, alderman brother of former boxer Terry Brown (Cecil Wright), turns up dead beside a Ray Burgess building site. Was the brother's death an insurance murder, a political suicide or something darker?

Hi, Rick
I'm a little late to the party, but here's a bit of info about this original CBC production.
I'm also uploading a nice clean 128/44 stereo encode of the series to: http://www.otrrepository.com/requests/ning/In-the-blood which should be completed in the next few minutes.
Enjoy!
Bob
