Fit to Plead

Fit to Plead by James Fairfax Broadcast 4th March 1978 @ 8:30 p.m. (Saturday Night Theatre) In the quiet textile town of Petefield, Roger Stanton, a bright, young solicitor, has been arrested for the murder of his wife, Margaret. A judge grants Roger bail under the condition that he be sent to a private hospital. Sally Cluff, a young Probation Officer, arrives to see Roger about whom she has to write a social inquiry report for the court. But the doctor tells Sally that there will be no sentence because before a man could be found guilty, he must first be fit to plead. But the doctor will not allow Sally to see Roger, and Sally doesn't take 'no' for an answer. With Judy Bennett [Sally Cluff, a Probation Officer], Paul Chapman [Roger Stanton], David Mharlow [Detective Chief Inspector Elvington], Paul Webster [Dr. Karl Febich], John Franklyn-Roberts [Martin Hensley, a Solicitor and Roger's Senior Partner / Charlie, the Garage Attendant], Eric Allen [Henry Tully, the Curate], Joan Matheson [Mary Bordell, Chief Probation Officer], Ronald Baddiley [The Reverend Richard Grainger / Councilor Sugden], Dermot Crowley [Dr. Sean Crowley], Graham Roberts [The Judge], Judith Barker [Mrs. Alice Briggs], Marie Dixon [Mrs. Joan Helliwell], and Keith Elcome? [The Organist]. Directed by Kay Patrick in Manchester 128/44; 79.8 MB; sound quality very good
