The Caballero's Way by O. Henry

The story that introduced The Cisco Kid. In O. Henry's darkly ironic original story, the Cisco Kid bears little resemblance to later adaptations. The character is a twenty-five year old desperado in the Texas-Mexico border country. He kills for sport and is responsible for at least eighteen deaths. From Wikipedia

  • O.Henry's version of the Cisco Kid never quite made it to the screen. The Kid sounds like a mature Billy the Kid who had no compunctions about shooting people. Movie historian Francis M.; Nevins has written a book on the films of the Cisco Kid in which he details the career of each actor who played the part. He even includes the first movie Cisco, Herbert Stanley Dunn, who played the part in 1914. You can find the book "The Films of the Cisco Kid " (World of Yesterday) by going on line at the old corral.com.
