C. S. Lewis - Space Trilogy - Victoriana and Steampunk

I don't remember where I got these, but I found them interesting. So far, the only problem I have found is that on 2a, the first little bit is kind of muffled. Then it goes back to normal. Hope everybody enjoys them. Here is the first book, Out of the Silent Planet!

Out of the Silent Planet is a science fiction tale of Dr. Elwin Ransom's journey from Earth to live among the inhabitants of Mars, called Malacanda in the local language. Throught the medium of science fiction, the nlvel addresses several issues such as racism, colonialism and religion. It is the first book in C.S. Lewis' Space trilogy.

While on a sloitary walking tour of the English countryside, Dr. Elwin Ransom, a college language professor, is kidnapped and druged by two men. He awakens to find himself abourd a spherical spacecraft. His captors are Devine, a wealthy and greedy Englishman with a sinister streak, and Weston, a brilliant physicist who designed the spacecraft. Weston explains they are bound for one of the planets in the solar system, but does not reveal which, except to say that the inhabitants of the planet call it Malacandra.

The final book in C.S. Lewis's acclaimed Space trilogy concludes the adventures of the matchless Dr. Ransom. The dark forces that were repulsed in Out of the Silent Planet and Perelandra are amassed for an assault on the planet Earth itself. Word is on the wind that the mighty wixard Merlin has come back to the land of the living after many centuries, holding the key to ultimate power for that force which can find him and bend him to it's will. A sinister technocratic organization is gaining power throughout Europe with a plan to "recondition" scociety, and it is up to Ransom and his friends ro squelch this threat by applying age-old wisdom to a new universe dominated by science. The two groups struggle to a climactic resolution that brings the Space Trilogy to a magnificent, crashing close.

The second book in C.S. Lewis's acclaimed Space trilogy continues the adventures of the extraordinary Dr. Ransom.
