Here is an interesting episode of the Kevin Smith Show from Dec 30, 2008 with guest Derrel Sims. Derrel Sims was an abductee from his early childhood until he was about 17 years old. At that point, his abductions stopped and he moved on with his life, joining law enforcement and becoming a military policeman, among other careers. He ultimately became the Alien Hunter when his toddler son also showed signs of being an abductee. Derrel had never shared this part of his life with his wife or child at that point...Realizing that his son may be abused in a way similar to his own unfortunate circumstances, Derrel made the decision to take on these abductors and to help others with similar experiences get on with their lives. He is also well versed in techniques and methods used to determine if an abductee experience is genuine or a hallucination. The Kevin Smith Show: Dec 30 2008 with guest Derrel Sims
Thanks so much for this. I was trying to download episodes of Kevin Smith's podcast from different sources, but without any success. Maybe after he passed away it caused an interruption in downloads. Not sure. But I really feel like I missed out on some great paranormal radio not knowing about his show. So any episodes are greatly appreciated. Thanks again.
That's exactly what happened. Before he passed, there were really weird things going on with the Kpods, so that even members had trouble getting episodes. I'm not sure if he was declining in health or what was going on, but it was frustrating such that right before he passed, many of us were wondering if he were planning on signing off for good. I am also a fan of C2C but the manner in which Kevin approached subjects and guests was unique. He was an ex-cop and applied interrogation (not unkindly, though) techniques to get to the core of every story.
That's exactly what I thought. I'm a fan of CSC also, but I as much as I think George Noory has a very positive attitude, I also think he is awfully accepting of anything that any goest runs by him. So Kevin Smith really strikes me as a breath of fresh air -- not unlike Richard Dolan. Once again, thanks for posting.
I used to be a fan of Coast to Coast and tried really hard when George took over to get used to his style and to continue to like the show. I finally stopped listening mostly, looking for replacements because I do not like George's style. He appears uninformed about the guest and the subject matter and asks stupid questions, mainly in the nature of asking a question that the guest just finished answering.Occasionally when I cannot find sosmething else I still listen but I am in no way a fan of George.
I was ecstatic last Fall when Art Bell came back on Sirius XM. Art is an excellent interviewer but he blew it. Art played the primadonna he used to be at the wrong time, too early in his comeback. He had just gotten out of a no compete clause with Coast To Coast and got himself into another one with Sirius. He then was upset over the restrictive listener base with the pay network. He threatened to quit if they didn't let his show for the one time a day to be free just on his website live in order to bring the caller base up. He effectively slit his own throat by threatening a For Profit Corporation that he would quit if they didn't give everyone a freebee. They effectively said, Art you just quit and don't think you can go somewhere else because now we have the no compete clause. Sirius then brought Coast To Coast back with basically the same agreement Art wanted because Coast goes out once free and then you pay for repeats or convenience listening.
BTW, the shows are all here on this group. The show was called "Dark Matter". They are quite good considering he hadn't broadcast in 10 years. -------------------------------------- R
There were people worldwide who were just getting up to speed with Sirius, joining simply because Art was on there. Then he became petulant and left everyone in the lurch. Sirius was actually good about refunds from what I heard, but it was pretty unfair on Art's part. The KSS fans were looking for a place to hang their hats, so to speak...he didn't give it enough time.
Agree totally re: George N, sometimes I feel like he is doing the show in his sleep.
Kevin Smith struggled for years to put food on his own table, a struggle which ultimately led to his demise at 60 from a variety of physical infirmities. He wanted to do a show with no advertisers so he wouldn't be beholden to anybody, but his membership base was too small to sustain any sort of decent living conditions. It's sad because in syndication, he had millions of listeners in over 100 countries. I don't think he made much in syndication or from the pensions we suspect he may have had from his past in law enforcement.
Alyson.....I corresponded for some time with Kevin on a personal basis. It wasn't so much a lack of income as it was not keeping much of it for himself. His wife & son live like royalty in Thailand. Sorry to be a wet blanket, but I had some issues over his hyperbole concerning Dr. Filipov. He was never in any danger or censored or detained in any way. I could say more but I'll end it here, as anything else I have to say is opinion......Jim
Yes, I had heard that about his family in Thailand. And it's interesting you say that about Filipov...not sure if you heard any of the Robert McDonald episodes, but this man was proven to be a fraud over the Baltic Sea "USO" matter; he did indeed create a seafaring vessel out of popsicle sticks donated by kids across Europe, but other events surrounding his "professional life" as a ghost hunter have been less than legitimate. Right before Kevin died, McDonald had a story about a forest near his home in the Netherlands. He posted pictures of a "hominid" that he said local farmers had captured, and he said more pictures were forthcoming. After a pretty basic investigation by some members of the KSS, these pictures were proven to be part of a sculpture project done by someone a few years back and had been circulating on the internet. I could go on and one about this particular incident but it was distressing that McDonald's "discovery" was probably one of the last live shows Kevin aired and a sad note to end upon.
Too many fakes, phonies & frauds littering the paranormal landscape. Idiots like McDonald & Jerry Wills are always making grandiose claims but never offer any tangible evidence.
