I am prefacing the description so that you (the listener) do not get any preconceived ideas about what you are going to hear.  Yes it is the TV show you think it is,  It is just presented in a novel way.  You are about to hear the history of the idea and writing of the screenplay of this episode.  You may be thinking gee whiz that sounds boring, at least those were my thoughts with no warning".  As I listened I realized that to me it was incredibly interesting.  Go figger! The original story was quite different.  Well that is the long and the short of it. Unless you are a total "action addict you will be pleasantly surprised.  I did try to soften the shock somewhat by  including in the RAR file the Graphic Novel (comic Book) progression of the episode.  Enjoy! ----------------------  R (Thanks Bob E)

"The City on the Edge of Forever" is the penultimate episode of the first season of the American science fiction television series Star Trek. It is episode #28, production #28, first broadcast on April 6, 1967. It was repeated on August 31, 1967 and marked the last time that NBC telecast an episode of the series on Thursday nights. It was one of the most critically acclaimed episodes of the series and was awarded the 1968 Hugo Award for Best Dramatic Presentation. The only other episode with such an honor is the two-part episode "The Menagerie". The teleplay is credited to Harlan Ellison, but was also largely rewritten by several authors before filming. The filming was directed by Joseph Pevney. Joan Collins guest starred as Edith Keeler.

This episode involves the crew of the starship USS Enterprise discovering a portal through space and time, which leads to Dr. McCoy accidentally altering history.

Stardate: Unknown. While the Federation starship USS Enterprise is investigating temporal disturbances from a nearby planet, Lt. Sulu is injured in an explosion. Chief Medical Officer Dr. McCoy gives him a shot of cordrazine and accidentally injects himself with an overdose when the ship is shaken by a time distortion. Delusional, he flees from the Bridge to the Transporter Room, beaming himself down to the planet.

  • Thank you Rick...one of my favorite episodes

  • Thanks!

  • I'm pleased that you all get enjoyment from this

it is a project I've been awaiting for some time

    • You will see that I added to it the graphic Novels (Comics) that illustrate the different incarnations of the show as the script was reworked from the original I really would have loved to see them.have done the show as originally written

I really think it would have gotten even more accolades than it did get. Thank again! --------------- R.

    • Thanks Rick, i'll grab the graphic novels. An awful lot of comics and tapes were ruined through damp at my flat some years ago.

I used to correspond with Harlan in the 1980's and was a member of H.E.R.C, I recall buying several recordings of him reading his own work including "Jeffty Is Five" and "Repent Harlequin" which were always among my favourites even though shipping cost to UK was high and I have been collecting books etc by Harlan for nearly Fifty years and have all kinds of oddities including the illustrated Harlan Ellison with 3Dglasses! and I will always be grateful to him for teaching me how to insult people in Yiddish!

Hope you're keeping well and thanks again

  • Thank you for this.

    • Yes Wayne and Martin this is a one of a kind audio.  It really shows the machinations of authors and publishers sometimes to the point of having the outcome as an excellent show that would have been marvelous had it not been reworked so much by the powers that be.  ---------------------------------  R

  • Thanks a lot
