AT&T is getting into the cloud-storage game -- and giving away free upgrades to entice new customers.
Normally, signing up for an AT&T Locker account nets you 5GB of free cloud storage. However, for a limited time, you can get your account upgraded to 50GB at no charge.
Should you bother? After all, what the heck is AT&T Locker? It's a fairly basic cloud-storage service, one built primarily for backing up your mobile media (photos, videos, and so on) -- but also useful for basic file archiving and sharing.
Let's talk about getting your free upgrade, then take a closer look at using Locker.
- For starters, click the above link, then click the big orange Sign Up For Free button. Follow the instructions to create your new account.
- Next, wait for your e-mail verification to arrive. When it does, click the link to verify your account.
- With that done, click the Accounting Settings link (in your Locker), then click My Plan, followed by Upgrade Plan. Choose the 50GB option and take it from there.
Presto! You've got 50GB of cloud storage, no strings attached.

Thanks, Bob for posting this and also to Rick who alerted me. I've just signed up for the 50GB and signed up 5 other family members. They'll probably never even use it so I now have plenty of space to upload my WWII stuff as soon as I clean up some tags and such. I was starting to get low on storage space with Skydrive so this is very timely.
Thanks again!
Jamie
It is excellent for storage, but you will have to know who you want to get the stuff because it is purely email or open posting on Facebook etc. As far as I can see it is going to be great for when i am giving someone something that is too big to post elsewhere and then I emailit to them direct from at&t. In other words you cannot get a postable link. I think they are trying to cut out some piracy with it. LOL ------------------- R
Oh rats! Well, at least it's great for personal storage. That still makes it worth the effort for me. I hate losing stuff.
P.S. I don't know what you mean by "email of open posting on Facebook, etc.".
It was supposed to be or not of. LOL My typing sucks. ------------------ R
it's kind of a combo of a cloud and personal storage. I don't store stuff without having a hard copy, just personal preference. For you it will be great for storing things when you get low on space. Me, I will use it to send things that are real big and I don't want to clog up my paid storage for something I am only going to give to one or 2 people. This way I can get their emails and almost send it direct. LOL I thought the same as you for posting purposes but as I say "Never look a gift Horse in the mouth" --------------------------------------------- R
:)
Rick:
This is a small group. Perhaps you could cross-post this before it expires?
BTW - I have set up FIVE accounts so far. You just need a different e-mail address for each (like your always1895.com addy ...) I set up several dummy GMail accounts just to get an extra 100 GB. :>)
I didn't see any provisions for sharing just part of your stash. I saw emails for people with access and that is all. Am I missing something? BTW, did you ever find out out who? You are missed by many here and especially me. It's not the uploads you bring to the table I miss, it is your wit and bantering back and forth with you and the signs of friendship. --------- R
Haceb't played with the elements of it yet, Just thought I'd grab the space while available and worry about the details later.
If it's crap, we can just ignore it.
It's not crap. I just uploaded all my pictures. The only thing is, you can only upload 20 items at a time but the upload is SUPER fast so it isn't really an issue. The best part is it's free. I'm hoping they don't come along in a month or so after I've uploaded all my audios and state they are now charging. I'm going to start uploading them now. I'll post back if I run into any problems.
