Here is something to help beat the heat - 3 different readings of Smila's Sense Of Snow. SSOS is a modern classic, a compelling mystery (I have not read any more compelling, more page turning -- a terrifying thriller -- a novel with original uniquely observedcharacyers and fascinnating settings -- a story told by a master storyteller.
Of the readings, only the Alyssa Bresnahan is unabridged - or more detailed at any rate. Both the Rebecca Pidgeon and the BBC Siobhan Redmond are significantly abridged. Comparing the abridgements - what left out what kept in - may be interesting to some who have read the book. All 3 are read quite well though the Alyssa Bresnahan and the Siobhan Redmond are tied for best interpreation. I listened to the BBC first and then rushed out to buy the book.

Thanks, Reuben--I've often wondered about this book.
I liked the book; some neat cultural twists on the usual murder mystery. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks, sounds interesting !!
