A search for a missing relative leads Sir Edward Leithen
into the Sick Heart River [thinly disguised Nahanni River]
region of Canada's Northwest Territories.
As much an internal quest as it is man-hunt and struggle
against Canada's rugged terrain in deep winter.
Written while Buchan was Governor General of Canada, his
imagination fired by the then recent survey and mapping of
the Nahanni River basin. First published in 1941.
Published in the USA under the title of 'Mountain Meadow'

Hi Riklaa Thanks for this audio book, John Buchan is one of my favorite authors, I've read most of his books, I started at school with the Thirtynine Steps, I have the unabridged version on tape, three films, cd, and a picture book of this novel. I then progressed to the rest of the Richard Hannay stories, and on to The Island of Sheep and some his lesser known books I also have the books featuring the Gorbal Diehards, Hunting Tower. I found that Sick Heart River was the hardest book to get hold of, and was probably the last one I read. I,m not a big fan of his historical novels and only managed to start one of those. Thanks again Richard
In some ways it reminded me of Nevil Shute (one of my favorite authors).
Never thought I'd get the opportunity to hear more Buchan. Thanks for this, Mr. Rick.
