"Paul Temple East of Algiers" is a novelisation of the original radio drama "Paul Temple and the Sullivan Mystery".

Francis Durbridge reworked a couple of his dramas into novels in this way - in this instance, switching locations (from Egypt to Algeria) and changing the names of some of the characters.

It's clear from the blurbs that the stories are very similar - but the treatments, one a full-cast drama and the other a single-voice reading by Anthony Head are very different.

"East of Algiers" is the last Paul Temple recording currently available to BBC Audiobooks to offer consumers. There were only ever 8 novels, we have now recorded them all with Anthony Head.

  • Thank you for the better quality post of this.  Sorry about the duplication.  I was uploading to post at the same time you posted and didn't see yours until after I was done posting part 2 of the Casebook.  sometimes dupes have their place in the order of things and this is definitely that kind of case. Thanks again  -------------------------------------------------------------  Rick
    • I do believe that your copy is my own, stripped of tags and covers and the info package that I included in this recent upload.

Either way it is good to have some Paul Temple to listen to!

      Cheers Rick

    • Yes it is.  ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------  Rick
  • Thanks very much for sharing this, Lefevre. I often think when listening to these how confusing it would have been if I had married a woman with the same name as Mrs. Temple.

    Best,

    Steve
