Stories about the Clyde steamboat The Vital Spark, her Captain, Para Handy, and crew - glum Dan the engineer, Dougie the mate, and ship's boy Sunny Jim - at their work carrying goods along the River Clyde and around Loch Fyne in the first decades of the twentieth century.
These gentle stories were first published in Munro's Glasgow Evening News "Looker On" column beginning in 1905.
