Request on How to Post and Where

It has been requested of me many times on how to post or upload to Times past.  All groups are open and easy to join by going to the opening page of the group and joining..

Try not to duplicate items.  We all do this occasionally since the group search is useless and inoperable and the site search which we just started using has not caught up with all the old posts yet.   Determine which group your post needs to be in.  View all will let you look at all the posts in the group. Click on start discussion to start a new post.  This brings you to a blank discussion box.  This is where you describe your post and place pictures if you wish. It is fairly self describing.  Follow the prompts.  After the description is finished, push Add Discussion and the discussion is added to the group and a reply box is opened.  The reply boxes have upload files on the bottom left.  Click on this and 3 attach files boxes open up.  This is where you place posts.  Just follow prompts and remember that each 3 replies or posts cannot exceed a total of 7 meg to complete the process.  It is much easier to do than it is to describe and is only useful in the Ebooks group since the bulk of audio way surpasses this limit.  If the post is more than 7 meg per item which most posts are, the you have to get your own storage for the items to be uploaded to.  There are 3 that are fairly easy to use and for others to download from.  They are Skydrive, ge.tt and A-Drive.  I use all 3 and have paid accts.  They all have free accounts available.  A drive has the largest amount of free space but also is the hardest to learn how to use.  If you are looking for easy the get a free acct on Skydrive or ge.tt   You upload your files to the storage site and then get a link to it and place the link along with a text description of the item and a picture if you have one or can find one.  The header of the posting box has all of the controls.  Feel free to experiment.

Now I have to tell you that we are unlike other Audio sites of our kind.  We would like you to realize that we expect you to keep your links from these sites current and active.  Most of the other sites like us let their members deaden the links in a few easy or weeks whereas we encourage either keeping them current or deleting the post when the link dies.  If you don't I will when i come across dead links.

If you are adding to someone else's or your own posts just open the reply box and go from there.
Trying it and doing it are the only way to learn.  With me it is second nature and it will become easier for you with each post.

I hope I have not confused you too much.  The owner of the site, Calfkiller, and myself the Administrator of the site are notified about every post.  If a post is put in the wrong group we will tell you and it can be moved.  You can easily link to a personal storage space for posts, but linking to other websites except your own personal one is not allowed.  We also frown on stealing the links of others and posting them.
If you have any questions just PM Calfkiller or myself, although any member would probably be glad to help.  We are a close knit group of like minded people that will help when asked.  Welcome to our Site and our Group.  Enjoy your time here.  We also have a Request group where you can ask for specific items and if one of us has it we will post it for you.  Have Fun.

  • Hi - Another stooped Noob questions:  I have some things that people might want, but I'm not sure where to post them (or how, for that matter.  Here's the list (I didn't find any of these on the site.)

    - Closed on Account of Rabies   Poems and tales of Edgar Allan Poe performed by various artists

    - The Gothic Archies   The Tragic Treasury: Songs from A Series of Unfortunate Events

    - Kids' Scary Stories and Spooky Sounds

    - Uncle Rattler's Scream Hour

    - Captain Kangaroo Introduces You to The Nutcracker Suite

    - How the Grinch Stole Christmas and Horton Hears a Who   Original TV soundtrack from the cartoon

    - Here Comes Huckleberry Hound   Original TV soundtrack (Narrated by Daws Butler)

    - Al "Jazzbo" Collins - Fairy Tales for Hip Kids

If it's not too much trouble, can someone let me know if these are worth posting, and if so, how?

    Thank you!

The rest look interesting.  I have a question.  Are they from LP records  If so they go in the records group.  If not most would go in the Kids group. Gothic Arches in music.  Uncle Rattler's Scream Hour, if OTR then in one of the OTR groups, if not OTR either horror or Spoken Word  dependent on if one voice or many and if a record in records.  Al Jazzbo Collins in Kids, records or Spoken Word dependent on the same factors as above.

I am updating the how to post in this group for you to answer your question of how to post..  -----------  R
