Back in the early 90s (I'm guessing), Radio 3 did a 45 minute program called "Monument", This was part music, part sound effect, and it was essentially a tribute to London.
It was quite avant-garde in it's feel, it wasn't a drama or a documentary, it was a collection of sounds recorded around the capital (railway announcement tannoys, street markets, Big Ben etc). If memory serves, it might even have begun with the World Service's Lilliburlero theme (which obviously isn't Radio 3!).
I can't remember it's full title (the "Tribute To London" bit might be wrong), but the actual name of the piece was definitely "Monument". I've drawn a blank on Google.
Thanks

It rings no bells with me, but I'd very much like to hear the programme, if anyone has a copy.
