HI, does anybody have the audiobook ofClockwork Fairy Tales: A Collection of Steampunk Fables by Stephen L Anctzak
Overview
Inspired by Hans Christian Andersen's "The Red Shoes," New York Times bestselling author K. W. Jeter's "La Valse" forges a fable about love, the decadence of technology, and a gala dance that becomes the obsession of a young engineer—and the doom of those who partake in it.
In "You Will Attend Until Beauty Awakens," national bestselling author and John W. Campbell Award winner Jay Lake tells the story of Sleeping Beauty—and how the princess was conceived in deception, raised in danger, and rescued by a prince who may be less than valiant.
The tale of "The Tinderbox" takes a turn into the surreal when a damaged young soldier comes into possession of an intricate, treacherous treasure and is drawn into a mission of mercy in national bestselling author Kat Richardson's "The Hollow Hounds."
In "The Kings of Mount Golden," Hugo and World Fantasy Award nominee Paul Di Filippo tells the story of a young man's search for his heritage and a mechanical marvel that lies at the heart of a sinister pact in this fascinating take on "The King of the Golden Mountain."
I cannot buy it as it cannot be downloaded in the UK
Thanks in advance

Sounds like brothers from different mothers, eh. Sometimes you just find a friend that has the same interests and stuff. Strange isn't it. On different continents and all. I just got up for a couple minutes and i have been sitting here drowsing off for 2 hours. I will talk later bro. --------------------------- R
Bob:
Just curious - what is the rationale behind this prohibition? I've seen several requesrts from you which contain this complaint.
Is this an Audible issue?
Bob
HI Bob, i think it is a copyright issue - when publishers buy rights to a title they don't always get worldwide rights
in some cases you see the same title from 2 different publishers with different readers
This particular publisher is Tantor Media but Hachette, Recorded Books and Harper Collins seem to have similar issues
It's ironic that as a person willing to purchase a book i have to resort to illegal downloading to obtain a title
Even more ironic is that on occasion you will see an Amazon seller selling the cd audio version on Amazon UK so you can purchase a pyhsical disc through import(albeit at a very high price) but not a download - how stupid is that
In the majority of occasions we never see an audio release this side of the pond
I am sure there are times when the reverse applies but it has never come to my notice
On a separate note - if there are any titles anyone is after i am happy to upload if i have them - it's difficult to know what may be wanted and i am wary of uploading too much - Rick generally posts on my behalf
Thanks, Bob.
I should have thought of the copyright license issue. That makes sense as an explanation, even though it doesn't make sense as a reason. :>)
We have (or have had) a similar issue with Big Finish audio on this side of the pond, although I strongly suspect that the issue there is one of the "storefront's" making, rather than copyright.

Another reason may be, in the case of another "The Executioner's heart", all you have to do is read the syopsis to think of a possible reason. it appears to use the names of real life live Royalty in a fictional but nonetheless derogatory manner. --------------------- R
Rick, i see your point re: royalty but the whole series features Queen Victoria kept alive as an automaton and all the other audio books are available over here
Also have you ever listened to Terry Deary "The Vile Victorians" in his horrible histories series
he really paints a grim picture of her as a monarch!

Bob, Steampunk is is one of my favorites also. The Mixing of the era with technological advances in an alternate time line mixes some of my favorite things, Victoriana, technological advances and time and alternate timelines. I mean I could not ask for anything more in a tale than this. The possibilities are endless and fascinating. ever since you put in a request and i saw this I was hooked and had to have it. Short Stories are also my favorite so this has it all. ------------- R
We have a lot in common Rick
i love the idea of steam powered technology and alternate timelines aand also "what if" scenarios
