I know there are a couple of versions of this H.P. Lovecraft story, but there's a BBC reading by Richard Coyle that was on BBC7 this month. Did anybody manage to capture all the episodes?

There are people that like them or they wouldn't keep making them. The BBC is not one to continue in a failed market. As long as they keep making them and someone asks for them I will continue to post them. FEH PML
I think the BBC do a lot of the abridged readings because they try to fit a novel into five or ten episodes, making a week or two weeks of Book of the Week, Book at Bedtime or similar slots that are only 15 minutes long. Here in Australia they turn up on the end of the late-night show between Tony Delroy and Rod Quinn's shows.
Some things may benefit from being abridged..
I think that Stephen Kings novel "The Stand" is about a 50 "something" hour reading..
I love it but.......thank goodness I have the book!
This is, once again, an ABRIDGED reading. It fails miserably. Lovecraft needs to be read IN FULL, not in some editor's idea of what he _should_ or _might_ have said.
BBC once did an abridged reading of Anna Karenina in 10 fourteen minute segments, including daily summaries...
Dramatised by the BBC and transmitted daily from Monday 1st to Friday 5th November 2010.
1/5. High in the Antarctic, a team of scientists make an unexpected discovery.
2/5. A grisly discovery at Professor Lake's camp sparks a perilous two man flight.
3/5. Dyer and Danforth discover sprawling evidence of an incredible ancient civilisation.
4/5. Investigating ancient structures high in the Antarctic, Dyer and Danforth face pure terror.
5/5. Battling in the Antarctic, can Dyer and Danforth escape with their lives?

Bob, you're right about excessive abridgements -- they make Readers Digest look good in comparison.
