"If we sit and talk in a dark room, words suddenly acquire new meanings and different textures. All these gestural qualities that the printed page strips from language come back in the dark, and on the radio." - Marshall McLuhan
Midnight Radio Theater is a new approach to audio fiction. The show's purpose is to offer a new kind of storytelling experience. Each piece creates a vividly filmic and very "in the now" aural experience, one best heard late at night, with the lights out and your mind fully awake.
Creator Billy Senese describes his short audio fiction as, "a dark Chekhov meets the Twilight Zone."
"My intent has always been to create an experience where it feels like you’re watching a movie inside your head. Of course, I can't control how you will listen to these stories, but if you take the time, turn off the lights, sit down and listen without interruption or distraction, you’ll see what I mean."
Billy Senese is an independent filmmaker, audio producer and writer living in Nashville, Tennessee. His work focuses on the darker, hidden aspects of humanity. In the last few years he has turned his attention to writing and producing Midnight Radio Theater.
