Lily Marin by Paul Kater (3 Short Steampunk Stories)

Lily Marin by Paul Kater

This free kindle book contains three short stories by Paul Kater about Lilly Marin, which were published in 2011. Lilly is a singer during the day, but at night, she dresses herself in special bullet proof garments and straps on a belt with all kinds of weapons and gadgets, including a radiation gun, a specially equipped umbrella, and a whip. She had been a normal woman until she was changed as a result of an experiment by Dr. Drosselmyer. Now, when properly costumed, she is called "The Masked Woman." Lilly's adventures contain humor.

The first tale, "Lilly and the Motley Crew," tells how Lilly goes up against a gang that had taken over a part of the city, robbed and murdered people, and killed police. We read how she uses her weapons, sometimes with some difficulty, especially when she descends with a bump after flying. The second, "Lilly and the Avenging Angel," describes The Masked Woman's fight with a murderer who wears twelve foot mechanical wings, flies in the air, and descends from time to time to kill people by touching them. The third, "Lilly and doctor Drosselmyer," reveals how Lilly acquired her power and became The Masked Woman. She had gone to the eccentric doctor for help in improving her singing voice.
