Music critic Laura Barton attempts to decode the lyrics of perhaps rock's greatest ever singer-songwriter by exploring and analysing ten songs from the perspective of poets, critics, musicians and contemporaries. His range stretches from poignant love songs through vitriolic social comment to surreal flights of fancy. Here the critic Laura Barton and a worthy group of people attempt to analyse the great man's words. Despite restricting themselves to just a handful of songs, the task still proves difficult because Dylan has always delighted in teasing and frustrating. Though anyone who can conjure up images of Einstein disguised as Robin Hood sniffing drainpipes (Desolation Row) gets my vote every time.
